Serialization, 2D codes, and variable data

Every carton in a short run can carry its own serial number, 2D code, and lot and expiry data, printed in the same pass as your artwork.

What we print

  • Unique serial numbers on every carton
  • GS1 DataMatrix and QR 2D codes
  • Linear barcodes
  • Human-readable serial, lot, and expiration date
  • Sequential or customer-supplied numbering
  • Multiple versions, languages, or SKUs in a single order

Why it matters on short runs

Most carton suppliers print static cartons and leave coding to your packaging line, which means added equipment, added steps, and another point of failure. Because we print digitally, variable data costs no more setup than static artwork, even on a run of 50.

Unique codes also give you a foundation for product authentication and anti-counterfeiting programs.

Verified and graded, not just printed

A code that prints but won't scan fails at your customer's receiving dock or pharmacy. We verify and grade 2D codes and barcodes on a Cognex DataMan 8072V verifier, operated under a documented validation protocol, so code quality is measured rather than assumed.

The grade report ships with your Certificate of Conformance, ready for your incoming inspection records.

  • Print quality graded against industry verification standards
  • Validated equipment, documented protocol
  • Problems caught at the press, before cartons ship

Regulatory requirements we support

DSCSA (prescription drugs)

We print the product identifier your system provides, GTIN or NDC, serial number, lot, and expiration, as a 2D DataMatrix with human-readable text, to support your Drug Supply Chain Security Act requirements.

UDI (medical devices)

We print Unique Device Identification data in machine-readable and human-readable form on cartons and labels, to support your FDA UDI labeling requirements.

Compliance with DSCSA and UDI rests with the product owner. We print and document to your specification.

How a serialized order works

  1. Define the data

Tell us the code type, data fields, and minimum code size your specification requires.

  2. Send serial data

Supply serial numbers or ranges as a CSV or Excel file, or have us generate numbering in your format.

  3. Approve a proof

Within 2 business days, review a proof showing code placement and sample data.

  4. Print, verify, and document

Every carton is printed with its data, codes are verified and graded, and the grade report ships with your CoC.
